Mehdi Gholikhan: passion for education

Mehdi is an English language teacher, and his passion is to change lives through education.

Why did you choose Warwick?

I was privileged to receive a fully funded scholarship from the A. S. Hornby Educational Trust and the British Council to pursue my master's in English Language Teaching with a concentration in Teacher Education and Development.

What are you doing now?

I am an ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Teacher at Fairfax County Public Schools in Virginia, US.

What motivates you to do what you do? 

My passion for changing lives through education and my drive to influence individuals motivate me to do my job.

How has your time at Warwick influenced what you do now? 

Warwick University was an eye-opening experience that broadened my perspective and provided me with tools that helped me excel.

Favourite memory? 

I will never forget all the wonderful trips to various places, including the House of Lords, Oxford University Press, IATEFL (International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language) in Glasgow, and many other fun trips across the green UK.

Best thing about the Warwick community?

It is very inclusive and diverse.

Favourite place on campus?

The Piazza and the Warwick Arts Centre.
