Quickfire Questions: Sebastian Graban

Why did you choose Warwick?

I chose Warwick because of its excellent academic reputation, but also because of the staff who presented during my offer holders' day. They effectively showcased the excellent education I would receive while also painting a picture of the community that I would be able to build.

What are you doing now?
Senior Data Scientist at Stonegate Pub Group.

What motivates you to do what you do?

I love problem solving and enjoy the satisfaction I get from taking real-life problems and solving them to provide real value.

How has your time at Warwick influenced what you do now?

My time at Warwick gave me a rigorous framework for how I approach problems, which I use to this day. It also gave me good experience in communication through my role as Social Secretary at Warwick Boxing Club.

Moreover, I met many interesting people from different backgrounds who encouraged me to seek diversity, find new experiences, learn about others, and increase my experience of the world.

What is your favourite memory?

Some of my favourite memories at Warwick were of me and a group of my closest friends studying in the Mathematical Sciences Building together, drinking beer, and eating pizza while we debated problems on the whiteboard. At the time, these sessions often felt stressful, but we all look back on them with a lot of fondness.
