Do you have any fond memories?
A 54 week academic year where I only slept 4-6 hours a day in order to finish the course work and presentation... but also great fun working with such a diverse team of colleagues and faculties
Where did you live?
What are you doing now?
Life has an interesting way to take people around the world... I started off from (born in) Hong Kong, then went on to live in Switzerland, Vietnam, UK (Coventry and London) and now in Beijing, China.
Career wise, I started off as a hospitality professional working in hotels, then moved on to corporate planning and strategy, doing M&A and market entry work for automotive sector. From there I moved on to become head of a subsidiary of an Australian insurance company in China and now a partner in a business service provider in China.
Why did you become an alumni ambassador?
1) To help build and spread the Warwick brand in China. 2) To give back to society and the school from which I gained much experience and help.
What kind of people make up the Warwick alumni community in your area?
Most alumni in Beijing are younger graduates from China. Though like myself, there a some expatriates in more senior positions but they are the minority. In any case, there are not so many Warwick alumni in China when compared to other countries as the UK is a relative new education destination for Chinese students.
What kind of events do you run?
We start to run a monthly speaker & social event in Beijing. Turnout to the event is gathering pace but word is spreading and we expect a bigger turnout in the future.
Have been back to Warwick recently?
My last trip to Warwick was in 2002 so it was some time ago. I would love to return to a new look in not too distant future.
