Theatre and Performance Studies Student Prizes for 2021

2020/21 has been a particularly challenging year, and we are so proud of all of our students who have made it through this year - particularly those who are graduating.

In particular, we are delighted to mark the contributions and successes of this year’s winners of the Theatre and Performance Studies prizes:

Josh Myers - Research Prize for his dissertation on theatre and refugees

Jana Azuipe - Research Prize for Practice for her project exploring work and labour through dance and performance

Angelo Balagtas, Lucy Chamberlain and Hannah Khan - Student Contribution Prizes to acknowledge the positive impact they have all had on the atmosphere in Theatre and Performance, and the School, throughout their degrees

Some message from our Theatre and Performance Studies 2021 prize winners…

The thing I loved the most about my course was getting to explore such a wide range of topics! Every module was so different, and I ended up learning about and exploring all sorts of things that I never would have even dreamed of studying when I was applying to University. Over the next year I am planning to get a job so save up for a Masters the year after and hopefully spend a little time abroad in France.

If I learned anything from working in making the Theatre Department more diverse and inclusive, it is that we have a lot more work to do. We need to constantly remain aware of our own ignorance and expose ourselves to ideas and perspectives different from our own.

I have had a blast during my three years at Warwick! Having been immersed within a hub of exciting, young creatives has been so inspiring and is definitely what I have loved the most. Continually sharing work has provided a fantastic opportunity for me to challenge myself and learn a lot from those around me. I will really miss Warwick! Also, David Coates' continual support has been wonderful, and I am thoroughly grateful to him!

Next year I am going to study an MA in Contemporary Acting at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, which I am thrilled about! I couldn't be more excited! I am also currently working as an assistant to the Children's Co-ordinator for the School of Rock UK Tour which opens in September.
