Connections: Hon Win Woon

Hon Win Woon

BEng Electronic Engineering, 2011

In 2008, I suffered a traumatic brain injury after participating in a skiing trip during the Easter break. Despite the seriousness of the injury, I managed to recover my consciousness a year after the injury and started my long journey of recovery till today.

Luckily, against all odds, I managed to retain my intellectual ability, while my physical mobility was affected. I am very happy to let everyone at Warwick know that I am now a productive individual working as an IT Analyst for Roche in Malaysia for a full year now, just like everyone else, although my mobility is a little slower. It didn’t prevent the company from hiring me based on my grades from Warwick and the two summer internships I had with Goldman Sachs while I was still at Warwick.

I would like to thank Warwick for the kind assistance provided to my family, who flew to England to take care of me, by providing them with accommodation. And the really useful and practical multi-disciplinary degree course that prepared me for work outside my degree subject, which was in Electronic Engineering instead of IT.

Thanks Warwick.
