"Representation is a very important form of democracy."

What’s your favourite part about being Warwick student?

I would say my favourite part of being a Warwick student comes from not only the support I receive, but from all the ways I can successfully implement this support. From educational resources in the library to personal wellbeing check-ups from my tutors, all of this has really benefitted me, especially this year.

What advice would you give to other feature students?

The one piece of advice I would give future students is make sure you check your emails. It might sound simple, but it’s easy to get confused when transitioning from Sixth Form to university.

What are your aspirations for the future?

I aspire to become a Human Rights barrister and, perhaps later, a political career. Representation is a very important form of democracy and young people should have the opportunity to contribute towards this.

What do you think the biggest challenge women are facing today?

I can’t possibly speak for all women, however, I feel one of the biggest challenges we face is knowing we belong in high profile roles, whether it is becoming a barrister or a politician. We must overcome this feeling of imposter syndrome and create foundations to break these glass ceilings.

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?

If I would have been asked what International Women’s day meant to me when I was younger, I would not have had an answer. Now I can happily say it is a day I look forward to. It is important to celebrate the success of women who provide inspiration for current and future generations.

Is there a woman you look to for inspiration?

I think it is quite hard to pinpoint one female inspirator. Currently I have gained motivation and spiritual guidance from the poetry of Rupi Kaur, a South East Asian female whose work reflects not only the achievements of women, but also the need to question cultural stigmas placed upon Asian women.
