Epic Ancient and Modern
CX259
This module focuses on Homer's and Virgil's epic poetry, Renaissance continuations of Virgil's poem (Maffeo Vegio in particular), and modern reinventions of the epic genre, especially Phyllis Wheatley (the first black woman to be published in the United States), Derek Walcott (one of the most significant contemporary Caribbean writers), and Christopher Logue (arguably the most original of Homer's contemporary translators).
Module Convenor: Dr. Daniel Orrells
