Assessment
This module has no exam; it is assessed by two pieces of coursework. The first piece of coursework is the same for all students; the second piece differs for those taking the module in Latin and those taking it in translation.
- Scholarly comparison exercise (all students) [40% of module grade]
- Choose a pair of scholarly articles on the Appendix Virgiliana, from a choice of three pairs, and to write a 1,500–1,750-word critical analysis comparing and contrasting the two articles.
- Essay / literary commentary [60% of module grade]
- For students studying the module in translation: one of five set essay questions of 2,500–3,000 words.
- For Q800 students/students taking the Latin text option: literary commentaries on two out of a chosen set of short Latin passages from the set texts, totalling 2,500–3,000.
