Depictions of Animals on coins

Another attention-grabbing feature of the coins in this hoard are the depictions of a variety of different animals, both real and mythological creatures. Many of the coins display animals which are particularly fun to spot and identify within the hoard. Elephants and horses are particularly abundant here but snakes and even a Pegasus can also be spotted.
