The independent research essay will be similar to Essays 1 and 2, but instead of focusing on module texts it will draw on your own independent research. Examples of questions in recent years include research into a publisher, analysis of literary prize winners, research into a literary 'heritage' figure, analysis of paratexts, a 'decolonised' syllabus, etc. This assignment is a chance for your to do your own investigations into an aspect of literature’s wider circulation in the world.
