Diversity, Equality, Inclusion, and Climate Crisis
The Department of English and Comparative Literary Studies at Warwick has a long-standing and unquestionable commitment to equality, diversity, and democracy. We incorporate equality into our core objectives, as well as scholarly and critical reflection on questions of gender, diversity, and ecology. This is reflected in all our undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.
We offer three main degrees: English Literature, English and Theatre Studies, and English and History. Across all our teaching, we’ll help you to view literature as a way of seeing the world with more clarity.

We offer four distinct MA programmes, and with a thriving cohort of research students working across literary studies, our department is a great place to pursue your research ambitions.
We are ranked in the top 10 UK universities for research environment (2021 Research Excellence Framework); and 91% of our research is rated 'world-leading' or 'internationally excellent' (see the Times Higher Education). We are one of the top 30 English departments in the world in the QS World Subject Rankings (2022).
