IAS Speculative Lunch - Medical Humanities
Faculty of Arts & IAS Speculative Lunch:
The Medical Humanities at Warwick
What are the ‘Medical Humanities’, and who does them? Here at Warwick, we have a wide range of experts addressing questions and themes now increasingly grouped under the heading of ‘the Medical Humanities’ – signifying an interdisciplinary approach to understanding and engaging with medicine as a collection of practices, cultural forms, and social forces. ‘Medical Humanities’ has been highlighted as an area of growth by key funding bodies, including the Wellcome Trust, the AHRC and ESRC.
This meeting, supported by the Faculty of Arts and the IAS, will explore what we already do at Warwick in terms of researching and teaching in the medical humanities. How can we build on the University’s existing strengths, and develop new synergies between colleagues across the University’s faculties? We invite interested staff and postdoctoral colleagues to come along to talk briefly about their work and explore potential new opportunities over lunch.
The lunch will be held in the Wolfson Research Exchange, on the Library’s 3rd floor (across the bridge) from 12:00 to 2:00 on Monday 22 April 2013.
