In the past decade, Holocaust research has turned to exploring sexuality in Nazi Camps, however the topic of homophobia in the camps remains a lacuna. The prisoner society in the camps enforced strict rules of conduct, including regarding sexuality. Black triangle 'asocial' prisoners were often targets of homophobic accusations. What can we learn from scrutinising the experiences of black triangle prisoners and were there gendered differences in experiencing and/or expressing homophobia?
