British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship 2023-2024
The Department of History at the University of Warwick is pleased to announce that the British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship scheme is now open and welcomes expressions of interest. British Academy postdoctoral fellowships offer outstanding early career researchers the opportunity to work with colleagues in the department of History and to strengthen their research and teaching profile. We would encourage all interested applicants to start by approaching the person they would most like to work with in the History Department. Prospective applicants are required to identify an academic mentor in the department so potential candidates should approach their mentor to discuss the project at the earliest opportunity. Please see here for the list of colleagues: https://warwick.ac.uk/fac/arts/history/people/. Feel free also to contact the Research Director, Professor Anne Gerritsen (a.t.gerritsen@warwick.ac.uk).
The Warwick History department has a stellar reputation across a range of fields and boasts several highly active research centres. https://warwick.ac.uk/fac/arts/history/research/ We have numerous international collaborations, as well as an active community of historians working in interdisciplinary contexts across the Faculty and the other faculties. The Faculty of Arts at the University of Warwick is one of the world’s top 50 Arts and Humanities faculties and is home to a thriving research culture spread across seven Departments and Schools (see https://warwick.ac.uk/fac/arts/research/).
Please note the following requirements set by the British Academy:
• Applicants are expected to have completed their viva voce between 1 April 2021 and 1 April 2024.
• They must either be a UK/EEA national, have completed their doctorate at a UK university or have a strong prior association with the UK academic community
• They must not yet have held a permanent academic appointment
Furthermore, appointments at the University of Warwick are dependent on the award of the Fellowship. The expectation is that Fellows should undertake a significant piece of publishable work during the funded period.
