Revision

The last seminar of the year is a miniature exam paper. Note that you are not permitted to duplicate material in the exam that you have used for other assessed work, ie. in your seminar presentation and your long essay.

For the seminar, choose one of the questions below and write an essay plan for it. Here an 'essay plan' means a statement of your main thesis and a series of bullet points indicating the main points that you will make in the essay, as well as the main examples that you will use to support these points. We will discuss your essay plans in the seminar.

Questions

1. Was there a scientific Renaissance?

2. Was the experimental method invented in the seventeenth century?

3. 'There was no scientific revolution in early modern Europe because there was no such thing as science.' Discuss.

4. Was there a conflict between science and religion in early modern Europe?
