Japanese Enrolment

Students interested in taking Japanese as your option

We have following modules this year: Japanese 1 (LL129), Japanese 2 (LL225), Japanese 3 (LL226), Japanese 4 (LL232), Japanese Beginners Accelerated (LL291).

Please see the website for module information including the planned delivery method (some will be 100% online, others have classes on campus* - covid 19 permitting)

If you would like to enrol in one of the above modules (whether it is for credit or not-for-credit), you will need to do the following

1) fill in the pre-enrolment form. (link) (If it is not for credit, you will need to pay)

2) take diagnostic tests and fill in the questionnaire

The tests and the questionnaire are on moodle course, called Japanese Diagnostic Test - Language Centre.**

You need to "self-enrol" this diagnostic test course. You are only able to attempt once to take this diagnostic test.

Please note that even if you took a Japanese module last year (for example, you took Japanese 1) and you know which module you will be taking (for example, Japanese 2), you need to enrol in the moodle course and take the diagnostic tests. This is necessary as we will then be able to contact you via moodle. We may also give you some advice.

Please see below about the diagnostic tests.

3) We will assess your level and we will then contact you. We will also ask you about your availability for each group (if there are multiple groups)

Please note you will need to update your module regstration (MRM or eMR) after you have been allocated to a module and a group (whether you are taking it as 0, 24 or 30 CATS module)

Students who are taking Japanese as part of your degree course (e.g SMLC Modern Languages, Linguistics with Japanese, Modern Languages and Economics etc)

You will also need to fill in the pre-enrolment form. You will also need to enrol in the moodle course to take the diagnostic tests. This is so that we can give you advice. Japanese Diagnostic Test - Language Centre.**
