Vincenzo De Santis is a graduate of Sapienza University of Rome. He obtained his PhD in French literature from the University of Milan and Paris-Sorbonne University. His research focuses on Seventeenth and Eighteenth-century French theatre, on the relationship between theatre and politics during the French Revolution and the First Empire, and on the theory and practice of translation (Molière, Voltaire, libertine and obscene literature).

His PhD dissertation on Lemercier was published by Classiques Garnier in 2015 (Le Théâtre de Louis Lemercier entre Lumières et romantisme). He also produced a critical edition of Lemercier’s Christophe Colomb, published by M.H.R.A. and a bilingual critical edition of Voltaire’s Zaïre in collaboration with Mara Fazio (Pisa, ETS, 2015). He is collaborating on the critical edition of Voltaire’s theatre (Classiques Garnier) and is co-directing with Mara Fazio an edition of Lemercier's theatre (Classiques Garnier).

He joined the AHRC-funded project "French Theatre of the Napoleonic Era" as Postdoctoral research fellow in January 2016.
