Visiting Student Module Preferences Form

Completing the form

Please note that modules listed on this form may be subject to change and we cannot guarantee that all modules will be available. Filling in this form is to advise us of your preferred modules only; your actual module allocation will be confirmed at a later date.

The standard workload for a full-year student at Warwick is 60 ECTS (120 Warwick credits/CATS). Inbound Visiting students should meet this expectation.

Part-year students (one-term) may take 45-60 Warwick credits (24-30 ECTS).

Part-year students (two-terms October - March) may take 90-120 Warwick credits (48-60 ECTS).

When making selections, please indicate your preferred options as 1st choices. You will need to select enough modules as 1st choices to add up to the amount of credits or CATS required for your length of study. We understand that you may not be taking all of your modules in the SMLC and there will be a box at the end of the form to inform us of the modules you are hoping to take outside the SMLC. Please note: we cannot confirm spaces on modules not offered by the SMLC; these will have to be confirmed by each department.

As an example; a student, studying in Term 1 only, has the option to take up to 60 CATS worth of modules within that term (choices from other departments can count toward this total and the 60 CATS should not be exceeded), this is equal to four 1st choices in Term 1, or section B on this form

A full year student has the option to select modules from all three sections A, B, and C. They have the option to take up to 120 CATS worth of modules in the SMLC (or in combination with modules from other departments). 30 CATS modules should be treated as 15 CATS in Term 1 and 15 CATS in Term 2.

A part year student studying in Term 1 and 2 can select up to 120 CATS but only from sections B and C. This is equal to four 15 CATS modules in each term (or in combination with modules from other departments).

Please select enough modules as 1st choice to cover the required number of CATS you are required to take. Following this, please also indicate 2nd and 3rd choices, equal to the number of 1st choice modules you have selected. This is because spaces are limited on each module and you may not be allocated to your 1st choice.

Section C

These modules can only be selected by full-year students and students studying in Term 2

Section C

Other options, including Language Centre ('LL'-coded modules)

Please tell us in the box below of the modules outside of the SMLC you are hoping to take, including the CATS for each. This includes modules with a code beginning with 'LL', which belong to the Language Centre and are not run directly by SMLC. Please note that we cannot confirm spaces for you on modules offered by other departments, but this will allow us to ensure that you are taking the correct amount of CATS for your length of study
