Information for Incoming Undergraduate Students

We’re delighted that you’re joining us this year and hope that you’ll settle in quickly, find new friends and be intellectually challenged and stimulated by your course. Film and Television Studies is a small, close-knit community of film and television scholars and we’re glad that you’ve found your home here with us.

Starting a new course can be daunting – so we hope to make this process as easy and enjoyable as possible. The university’s Welcome to Warwick site has lots of essential information on it about settling into university life. In Film and Television Studies, there are a number of people who are here to look out for you: Tracey McVey is our Administrator for Student Experience. Please do contact her if you have any concerns at all. Her email address is T.A.Bale@warwick.ac.uk. Any general enquiries should be sent to SCAPVCenquiries@warwick.ac.uk.

You will be assigned a personal tutor who will look after you over the next three years. You will first meet your tutor at our social events on the Thursday of Welcome Week, and then should schedule a meeting with them so you can get to know each other better in the first couple of weeks of term. You’ll be told all about how your personal tutor will support you. You will also be assigned a student mentor (one of our lovely second years) who you’ll meet during welcome week. They’ll be able to answer any questions you might have too, and give you useful advice from a seasoned Warwick Film and Television Studies undergraduate perspective! We’ll let you know who your mentor is when you arrive.

Dr Rick Wallace is Director of Film and Television Studies, Dr Chris O'Rourke is Director of Undergraduate Studies and Dr Julie Lobalzo Wright is Director of Student Experience. They will all be around to meet you in your first week. You might be directed to talk to Chris about any course-based queries – his email address is Chris.O-Rourke@warwick.ac.uk. Please contact him if want to make an appointment to talk with him. From the start of term, Julie is available to answer any wellbeing related queries. Julie’s email address is: J.Wright.4@warwick.ac.uk

Some preparatory information, such as a provisional timetable and summer reading list can be found in the tab to the right hand side of this page.
