Jo Sartori
Jo Sartori is based in Warwick Medical School and manages the Warwick Centre for Applied Health Research and Delivery (W-CAHRD) and the recently funded NIHR Global Health Research Unit on Improving Health in Slums at University of Warwick. Jo is an experienced programme manager with a speciality in communications, international stakeholder relations and engagement. Her role is to manage the W-CAHRD with the aim to build the centre to excellent international standing. Jo also contributes to the research programme and co-authored a series of two articles in the Lancet on the health of people living in slums in developing countries. Jo recently managed and coordinated a Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Conference on statistical and demographical characterisation of slums, which took place in November 2017 to identify optimal ways countries can distinguish slum from non-slum urban areas in national censuses and surveys.
Jo joined W-CAHRD from the University of Birmingham, where she worked as the Head of Programme Delivery for the Collaborations for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care West Midlands (CLAHRC WM). Since graduating from the University of Manchester in 2007 with a BA in Economics and Social Science degree (majoring in politics and sociology), Jo has held a variety of public sector roles such as Knowledge, Communications and Engagement Manager and Programme Manager at CLAHRC for Birmingham & Black Country, supporting organisations in the West Midlands to apply for European Funding and the programme management of a £6.8million regional portfolio of health and wellbeing projects funded by the BIG Lottery. In 2013, Jo managed and coordinated the successful £30million application for CLAHRC West Midlands, which included collaborative working with three Universities and over 15 NHS organisations and Local Authorities.
