My main research interests are in evaluation of health care using randomised controlled trials and systematic reviews. Currently most of the projects I am involved in are concerned with musculoskeletal injuries, critical care or emergency medicine. I am also involved in research into the methodology of clinical trials and systematic reviews and statistical methods in medical research.
I originally trained as a zoologist, completing a BSc in Zoology at the University of Brstol and a PhD in Ecology at Imperial College before changing direction and studying mathematics and statistics with the Open University. I worked for eight years as Trials Statistician at the National Perinatal Epidemiology Unit, Oxford University, and for two years (part time) at the School of Health and Social Care, Oxford Brookes University, before joining the Warwick Medical School Clinical Trials Unit in May 2005. I am also Statistical Advisor to the Cochrane Pregnancy and Childbirth Group, based at the University of Liverpool.
