Research Interests

Having directed the Oxford New Teachers’ course, Ed retains a keen interest in faculty development, as well as multiprofessional education, and sleep medicine. He currently does clinical sessions in paediatrics.

Biography

Professor Ed Peile MB, BS, EdD, ILTM, FRCP, FRCGP, FRCPCH, MRCS, DCH, DRCOGEd Peile is Professor of Medical Education and Associate Dean for Teaching at Warwick Medical School, where his responsibilities include the MB ChB degree course, Postgraduate Medical Education, and Medical Education Research. </p>Ed graduated from Middlesex Hospital, London in 1975. As well as specialist training inpaediatrics and renal medicine, Ed trained as a GP, starting the practice in Aston Clinton in 1983. Ed had the satisfaction of seeing the practice develop from a struggling single-handed practice with no patients on day one, to the 5,500 patient PMS teaching practice, which he finally left in 2003. </p> Ed reduced to part-time General Practice in 1998, in order to take up joint posts at Oxford, working both in the postgraduate deanery and in the Dept of Primary Health Care at University of Oxford, where he developed the early years clinical course for the Graduate-entry fast-track students. This experience proved extremely helpful at University of Warwick, where the Medical School is exclusively graduate entry.</p>Ed’s doctoral thesis at Oxford Brookes University was on process and outcome in GP Registrar education.
