Research Interests

Yonas' primary research interests are in the statistical design and analysis of observational studies. In particular he has been working in extending the methodology and application of the self-case series method. He published several papers and a book on the self-controlled case series method. He has also developed an R software package (SCCS) for the method. His other interests include Clinical trials, longitudinal data analysis and missing data analysis. Currently, he is working in developing a statistical model for early detection and predication of gestational diabetes and associated maternal and fetal complications. He also consults on bids for funding via Research Design Service (RDS).

Biography

Yonas Weldeselassie is a Senior Research Fellow in Medical Statistics at Warwick Medical School, division of Population Evidence and Technologies. He graduated in statistics and demography from University of Asmara, Eritrea and went on to become an assistant lecturer in Mekelle University, Ethiopia. He held Msc in Biostatistics from Hasselt University, Belgium and PhD in statistics from the Open University, UK. After working as a research associate, on MRC project 'Software tools and online resources for the self-controlled case series method and its extensions', at the department of mathematics and statistics, the Open University since 2014, he joined Warwick Medical School in June 2017
