Patricia Keen, Associate Director Primary Care Development, Richmond and Twickenham PCT

“My MSc in Primary Health Care Management was a valuable starting point for me – in my own personal development, and in my quest to be a better leader. I liked its innovative structure and content, and the chances it gave me for personal reflection. The tools used equipped me as a learner – but also as a leader in a busy, changing NHS environment. It allowed me to take a step back and think about my workplace roles and context, so I could see how making changes to both could improve patient outcomes and service delivery. I never realised how much I would learn from other participants. I have gained transferable knowledge, skills and techniques and a fresh perspective. Most importantly, studying at the Centre for Primary Health Care Studies gave me the confidence to take risks with more challenging roles in the future, with the knowledge that I will be able to lean quickly, adapt and achieve success.”

Lily Batteson, Director of Nursing and Operations, Tameside and Glossop PCT

“Studying for the MA in Primary Health Care Policy and Practice was tremendous. It provided a strong foundation for developing my management skills and translating theory into practice. Through networking and peer support, it provided me with a safe environment in which to build my confidence, and since I completed it I have continued to operationalise the theoretical framework into practical management models. The degree was instrumental in securing my appointment to my current post. I would thoroughly recommend the Masters programme provided by the Centre for Primary Health Care Studies.”
