Based on research findings of the NIHR LYNC study, this professional development course will demonstrate the ways effective digital communications can help improve outcomes for patients with long term conditions.

Why study this course?

There is an increasingly important role for digital communications to play in the interaction between clinicians and patients within the NHS. Digital communications can help develop a patient centred approach to care including enhancing face to face engagement, developing and maintaining relationships, helping catch problems early, saving time, increasing ease and flexibility in accessing services, providing reassurance and raising the confidence of patients in managing their conditions.

Who is the course aimed at?

The course aims to meet the educational needs of all healthcare professionals using or planning to use digital channels of communication to enhance patient care.

  • Ethical issues
  • Patient safety
  • Costs involved
  • The benefits to patients and the health service
  • The development of your own plans to use digital communication channels within your clinical teams
