Your Chemistry Welcome Week

We've designed a welcome week to prepare you for the start of your studies with us. All sessions are essential and you're expected to attend these. Don't worry about missing out; we'll automatically include them in your welcome timetable. See session details below. We can't wait to meet you!

Welcome to Chemistry at Warwick

  Monday 29 September

10am - 11am

Join us as we warmly welcome you to Year 1 at Warwick! You'll get to meet key colleagues and hear from your Senior Tutor, Director of Undergraduate Studies, and Student Engagement and Experience Coordinator. This informative session will not only introduce you to key figures in your academic journey but also provide valuable insights into what lies ahead and what awaits you in your course. There will be friendly faces to help you with any questions you might have. Don't forget to collect your welcome pack on your way in!

We are Chemistry Social

  Monday 29 September

11am - 1pm

Chancellors Suite (Rootes Building)

After your welcome talk, come and join us for your introductory social where you'll get to meet everyone else on your course. You'll have the opportunity to meet your course mates in a more informal setting, plus there will be a host of colleagues on hand who are available to chat about the support they provide. ChemSoc and Black STEM Soc will also be in attendance, so it'll be the perfect opportunity to meet with them.

  Year 1 and your options

  Tuesday 30 September

11am - 12pm

Join us to learn about the module options available to you in your first year. This session will cover chemistry options as well as some external options that may be of interest. You will also hear from Siobhan Qadir, the Senior Careers Consultant for Chemistry, who will speak about the support available to you throughout your time at Warwick. Your attendance is essential to ensure you are prepared for the start of your course.

 Team Building

This is a great opportunity for you to get to know your fellow students and staff, and to learn about problem-solving in teams, one of the transferable skills you will use as part of your course. The event will be held on the Westwood Campus, and some of these activities will take place outside so please dress accordingly.

  Fun Friday: Taster Sessions

Join us on Friday 3 October, for an exciting showcase of our vibrant Chemistry community! The Student Experience Team will be presenting a variety of engaging activities, offering a sneak peek into our weekly We are Chemistry events than run throughout term. Come along, participate in any session that sparks your interest, and get a taste of what awaits you. This is also the perfect chance to ask questions and seek clarifications - from 1pm-2pm, we'll be joined by Lucy Johnson and Jo Russell, who can help with timetable or module questions.

All are welcome! Find us in the Chemistry Common Room, Chem360 (B2.01), located on the Science Concourse. Booking not required. See you there!

Watercolours

  10am - 12pm

Join us for a relaxing watercolour session! Whether you're a beginner or an experienced artist, we provide all the materials you need for a fun, creative experience. It’s the perfect chance to explore a new hobby, make new friends, and enjoy some peaceful downtime. All skill levels are welcome!

Do you have a question? Maybe you're unsure of something, arrived late or have missed one of the sessions earlier in the week. Pop along to the B2.01 Common Room for a chat. We're here to help and guide you. Or just call in for company or to meet people. Pizza available!

As welcome week comes to an end, we'll be offering a social board game session. The perfect opportunity to wind down, have fun and reflect on the week! You can meet course mates and bring flat mates too!
