Location: Physics Lecture Theatre (PLT)

Is 2D and 3D mass spectral molecular imaging with sub-micron resolution a realistic prospect?

The application of polyatomic primary ions (eg C60+) with their low damage cross sections appears to offer hope of a new approach to molecular SIMS imaging offering the prospect that a wider chemistry might be accessible within a sub-micron area. The lecture will outline the state of play and discuss the potential and limitations of 2D and 3D molecular imaging of biological samples
