Celebrating the Inspiring Women of Warwick – IWD 2026
For International Women’s Day 2026, our Warwick community came together to honour the remarkable women who make our department a vibrant, supportive and ambitious place to learn, work and thrive. This year’s Women of Warwick digital plaque initiative prompted many thoughtful messages of appreciation from across our community, celebrating the women who make Warwick Chemistry a richer, kinder and more ambitious place to belong.
The nominations reflected an inspiring breadth of achievements from world‑leading scientific innovation and exceptional teaching to dedicated pastoral care, administrative excellence and the everyday acts of kindness that hold a community together. Whether praised for their leadership, their humour, their mentorship, or simply for being the person others rely on, these nominations shine a light on just some of the extraordinary women who shape our department.
Nikola Chmel, HoD of Chemistry said “I am so proud of the colleagues and students who have been recognised through these nominations, and of the many others who contribute to our community every day. Thank you all for the example you set and for the difference you make. I encourage everyone to read the personal messages on Women of Warwick 2026 They are a lovely reminder that our community is strengthened every day by women who lead, support, innovate and inspire”
