Ph.D Vacancies

March 2019 Start.

We will have a vacancy as part of the Marie-Curie Innovative Training Network 'NanoCarb'. This is a trans-european collaboration to investigate biomedical application of glycosylated nanomaterials and will have signifcant travel and international collaboration opportunities with academics and industry.

Recombinant production of carbohydrate-binding proteins and investigation of their function. Biology/Biochemistry Background. The successful applicant will joint an international team, studying how glyconanoparticles can be used for medical applications. This position to to produce recombinant proteins and to study their interactions with glycomaterials from other partners.

There are strict Mobility Criteria for these positions; At the time of recruitment, the applicant must not have resided or carried out his/her main activity (work, studies, etc...) in the country of the host institution (employer) for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to his/her recruitment under the project. Compulsory national service and/or short stays such as holidays are not taken into account.

October 2019 Start

We have a vacancy within the MIBTP (Midlands Interdisciplinary Bioscience Training Partnership) joint with GE Healthcare. This is a 4 year PhD, with 6 months training, followed by 3.5 years of PhD research. The project will be to investigate new cryopreservatives with a particular focus on enabling cell-based therapies. These are the '5th pillar' of chemotherapay and emerging as the best hope for treating cancer. We will work with the industrial partner to develop new methods to store and transport key compents of the cell therapy production process. This will be interdiscplinary and suitable for chemists wanting to learn biology, or biologists with an interest in more applied research

Masters Projects

Vacancies for MAS/Systems Biology/AS:MIT/Polymer/Chemistry MSc Projects 2018

Candidates from Chemistry MSc, AS:MIT or Polymer MSc should apply directly from their respective project lists (but can email if further information is required). MAS CDT students should contact Matt early in Term 2 to allow time to prepare project proposals. We aim to have at least 2 vacancies each year.

Summer Placements

Vacancies for Summer 2019. Excellent students (must have at least a 2:1, preferably 1st) should contact Dr Gibson explaining motivation and to discuss potential projects as soon as possible.

Each year we hope to have at least 1/2 vacancies for Warwick students (in either year 2 or year 3) to come and work in the labs for 8-10 weeks during summer. This a great opportunity to improve your CV and to get paid at the same time. There is funding available via the Undergraduate Research Scholarship Scheme yearly, applications closing end of January.
