Water Surveillance and Security

Water Surveillance & Security: From Research to Policy

7th July, 10:00 - 15:00

Radcliffe Conference Centre, University of Warwick

About the Event

The Water for Development Community of Practice, WaDeCoP, is delighted to invite you to a symposium on Water Surveillance and Security, taking place on 7th July at the University of Warwick. This event will bring together leading researchers and practitioners from across the globe to explore the critical interface between water security research and real-world policy change. Speakers include Dr Temitope O. Sogbanmu (University of Lagos), whose work addresses water security in Nigeria, and Dr Izni Mohd Zahidi (Monash University), who will speak on flooding, digital twin technologies, and the science-policy interface, alongside Dr. Anoma Marasinghe (Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka). There will also be a panel discussion featuring industry, government, and policymakers.

The symposium will examine pressing challenges in water quality and surveillance while fostering meaningful dialogue on how academic research can better engage with policymakers, government bodies, and communities in the UK and beyond. Through a combination of expert presentations and open discussion, we aim to identify practical pathways for translating cutting-edge research into policy impact and to build a collaborative network capable of shaping the future of water governance at both a local and global level
