SEM Faculty Prizes 2026
Faculty of Science, Engineering and Medicine Research Prizes 2026 – Nominations Now Open
We are pleased to announce that nominations are now open for two awards celebrating research excellence across the Faculty:
1. Thesis Prize 2026
Recognising the best PhD thesis from each department, this award celebrates outstanding Doctoral research.
Prize: £500
Eligibility:
- Theses awarded in 2025
- Theses passed but not yet awarded (awaiting graduation) in 2025
- Theses passed with minor corrections in 2025 (viva between 1 Jan – 31 Dec 2025)
Includes PhDs by Published Work.
Nomination Process:
- Who can nominate: Supervisors (students should discuss eligibility with their supervisors)
- Submission:
- Supporting statement (max 600 words) from the supervisor outlining why the thesis is exceptional
- Supporting statements from thesis examiners
Deadline: Friday 27 March 2026, 12pm

2. Post-Doctoral Research Prize 2026
Recognising the best research outputs from post-doctoral researchers across the Faculty.
Prize: £500
Eligibility:
- Employees on fixed-term contracts within five years of completing their PhD (as of 1 Jan 2025)
- Outputs published between 1 Jan – 31 Dec 2025 with Warwick affiliation (e.g., peer-reviewed papers, conference proceedings, software)
- Nominees must have been employed at Warwick during part of the qualifying period and be lead author or significant contributor
Nomination Process:
- Self-nominations or nominations by colleagues
- Submission:
- Statement (max 600 words) explaining why the output is outstanding
- Copy of the research output
