PhD studentship in Quantum Engineering of Molecular Materials for Nanoscale Energy Generation

Qualification: Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering (PhD)

Start date: 8th January 2024 or 1st April 2024

Funding for: 3.5 years, as part of the UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship grant.

Supervisor: Professor Hatef Sadeghi

Project Description:

The aim of the project is to exploit the quantum properties of molecular materials to discover and design new materials for energy harvesting and cooling applications. Visit https://www.nanolab.uk/research/himol for more details. The candidate will receive broad training on computational materials modelling and gain experience with cutting-edge quantum transport simulation methods, conduct a world-class research project with high publication potential and would have an opportunity to conduct collaborative projects with internationally leading experimental groups in the UK, Europe and beyond.

Scholarship:

This fully funded scholarship will cover the tuition fees at the UK/Home rate £4,712, plus a stipend of £18,622 per annum for 3.5 years of full-time study and research training support. This PhD studentship is a part of the UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship grant.

Eligibility:

Due to the scholarship rules, this is for UK students only with a first-class or 2.1 honours degree at BSc or MSc in physical science or engineering disciplines and a strong interest in computational materials modelling. Experience with molecular scale simulation is desirable but not essential.

How to apply:

Applicants should prepare a cover letter outlining motivation and suitability for this project, and a full CV that includes your BSc or MSc with GPA, a list of all publications and contact details of two referees to warwick.ac.uk/engpgr/hsu/appcvLink opens in a new windowLink opens in a new window.

If you are successful at the interview, you will be invited to submit a formal application and fulfil the entry requirements set by the University of Warwick.
