Dr Silvio Pagliara and Dr Davide Piaggio attended the Digital Around The World online event this week. There was packed schedule of presentations over the 24 hours covering the thematic areas of:-

• Emerging Technologies for Digital Transformations
• Technologies for the Good
• International Cooperation in Research and Innovation

Dr Pagliara chaired a session titled "Innovation in healthcare, how novel technology and e-health can improve a personalised care approach".

This session provided an overview of the state of the art in e-health and the use of cutting-edge technology to three key areas: patients, citizens, and the healthcare sector. The European Commission, like other organisations, is encouraging and supporting open innovation frameworks with the goal of bringing together various actors, including public and private entities, institutions, and citizens' organisations to work together in order to close the gap between healthcare suppliers, providers, and end users with a more personalised and humanised approach.

Dr Piaggio presented on the title of "Innovation in e-health. How e-health and AI can originate an open, trust-based arena for matching ideas, technologies, user needs and processes, aimed at ensuring healthier independent lives for the ageing populations".

Dr Piaggio drew on the ABSPIE Lab's experience of the open innovation framework and the Lab's involvement in the Gatekeeper Project .
