Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) poses a huge problem in healthcare, undermining modern medicine. This could lead to common infections becoming deadly diseases. WAMIC has deep expertise in microbiology, drug discovery, epidemiology, public health, behavioural science, close links to industry and global connectivity.

Understanding how climate change and environmental risks affect population health, health systems, and health equity. Integration of health systems research, and policy analysis to examine climate-related health risks, vulnerability, and resilience, and to advance sustainable, low-carbon healthcare systems as a global health priority.

Infectious diseases pose an increasing threat to public health and wellbeing across the globe. A quarter of the total deaths worldwide are attributed to infectious diseases, with serious consequences on individual health, healthcare systems, and economies. Our mission is to advance the understanding and control of infectious diseases through rigorous scientific research and strategic partnerships. We are committed to developing innovative diagnostic tools, effective treatments, robust prevention and preparedness strategies, and strong policy links. Our campus-wide ecosystem prioritises equitable and sustainable research and development, focusing on the protection of communities most at risk.
