The pathway is divided into three time periods:

Pre-conception

Antenatal

Postnatal (up to one year)

Within each of the three colour-coded sections (in keeping with the Health Visitor Implementation Plan (DH 2011)), Universal, Universal Plus and Universal Partnership plus services are identified.

Each section starts with an overview of the aims and objectives for each of the time periods and then presents examples of evidence-based or promising initiatives that should be provided and references to the relevant evidence.

Example programmes from Warwickshire have been utilised in this programme, but other similar programmes can be used as appropriate.
