Senior Research Fellow

I joined the the Unit of Academic Primary Care, Warwick Medical School, in March 2018 as a Senior Research Fellow. My post is funded for three years by Marie Curie with the aim to support capacity building in palliative care and end of life research, particularly at the interface with primary care.

What excited me about this post was the opportunity to develop and conduct research in palliative and end of life care in the West Midlands and nationally. I am a sociologist and by being based in WMS I get to work in a multi-disciplinary unit with extensive quantitative and qualitative methodological expertise related to primary care and community-based health services research. There are strong links with other units in the School and across the University that provide further expertise in ethics, social science, statistics, health economics and clinical trials.

As I have got to know the School and my colleagues I have found that there is an informal and friendly culture. I have been supported in developing and growing a portfolio of research projects as well as being given opportunities to teach and supervise medical students. I have also been able to take advantage of some of the many training courses available and I feel I am looking forward to furthering my academic career at Warwick.
