Find out your blood type at Gibbet Hill

Wednesday 13 October and Thursday 14 October 2021, Gibbet Hill campus

NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) will be running ‘What’s Your Blood Type?’ events on Gibbet Hill campus, for all staff and students interested in becoming a blood donor and, in exchange, finding out their blood type.

The blood test involves a quick and easy finger-prick sample, and NHSBT staff will be on hand to answer questions about becoming a blood donor, how to get involved, and to help you book your first appointment.

Every year we need over 200,000 new blood donors in order to sustain blood stocks, and according to NHSBT data, around 50% of current blood donors are over 45. This is why young donors are so important- to make sure national blood stocks are sustainable.

We Are Donors UK is a charity partnering with NHSBT to help raise awareness of blood donation in universities across the country and support students through their first donation. With one simple, selfless act, you can help save or change the lives of people who urgently need a blood transfusion.

If you’re interested in becoming a blood donor and finding out your blood type, visit our booking form to book yourself a testing slot, and come to have a chat with the NHSBT members of staff.
