Bio - Dr Kevin Burke is a Lecturer in Statistics at the University of Limerick. He has been recently appointed as the director of the University of Limerick's Industrial Mathematics Unit at MACSI (Mathematics Applications Consortium for Science and Industry), where he has instated and fostered several industrial collaborations including: National Vehicle Distribution, DePuy Synthes, Vistakon and Teva.

 

Dr. Kevin Burke research interests lies in the area of survival analysis which is the statistical analysis of time-to-event data, i.e., where the response is the time until some event occurs. In a medical setting (where survival analysis finds its main application) the event under study may be death of a patient due to a disease (e.g., cancer, heart disease, Alzheimer’s disease) or the occurrence of some other health-related event (e.g., seizure, fall of elderly individual, successful pregnancy).


As Director of MACSI's Industrial Mathematics Unit Kevin is also interested in a wide variety of statistical research problems that arise in industry.
