Adventures in the Future of Surgery

New technologies in medicine are exciting for everyone, a chance to do things better. Some new things work, and some things don’t. The problem is, we can’t always tell which is which, and that’s no good for anyone.

In this lecture, Andy reflected on his adventures as a surgeon and academic, falling in love with everything from ligaments to kneecaps to clinical trials and learning about a new world of robotic surgery.

He talked about what research can tell us about what comes next. The future of surgery means exciting tech, smarter decisions, and a healthy culture. But research will need to change too, bringing a new set of adventures with it for years to come.
