MB ChB student wins prestigious BMJ Editorial Scholar position
Third year trainee medic George Webster has won a highly sought-after one-year placement as BMJ editorial scholar commencing at the end of this summer.
This is a great opportunity for George to work directly with the BMJ’s international team of editors and lead BMJ Student, the student section of the BMJ. George said “I am delighted to become an editorial scholar. It is one of my aspirations to write for the BMJ and so it will be an amazing experience for me. I will receive training in journalism and editing, and will be able to commission, peer review, select, and edit articles as well as write my own. I am looking forward to developing and hosting episodes of The BMJ’s student podcast and running the BMJ Student’s social media channels too.”
George will return to the fourth year of their studies following the prestigious placement. With a broad spectrum of interests which includes future work with the BMJ but also health equalities research, genitourinary medicine, and medical education particularly in relation to equality, diversity, and inclusion George will certainly have scope to explore a widely diverse career within medicine.
