Professor Nigel Stallard appointed as new Director of Warwick Clinical Trials Unit

Professor Nigel Stallard

We are delighted to announce that Professor Nigel Stallard is appointed as the new Director of Warwick Clinical Trials Unit, replacing Professor Gavin Perkins who will take up the role of Dean at Warwick Medical School in the summer.

Nigel joined Warwick Medical School in 2005 and has collaborated with the CTU for many years in his role as Professor of Medical Statistics, including trials such as RECOVERY-RS and START:REACTS. Last Autumn Nigel and the Statistical Methodology And Research support (SMART) group joined the CTU, and Nigel took on the role of Deputy Director, and is therefore a familiar and trusted colleague to many at CTU already.

With expertise in optimal trial designs, statistical design and the analysis of clinical trials, Nigel will lead the CTU to new horizons and ensure they continue to lead world class clinical trials, which transform the lives of patients.

Professor Gavin Perkins commented on Nigel’s appointment “I’m thrilled that Nigel will succeed me as CTU Director. He is already a high valued colleague amongst the CTU team and I welcome the opportunity to continue to work with him as I move on to become Dean”.

Nigel added “I am honoured to be taking on the role of WCTU Director and excited about the future opportunities for the unit. Gavin will be a hard act to follow, but I look forward to continuing to work with him in his new role as well as with so many great CTU colleagues.”
