Celebrating our Highly Cited Researchers at Warwick Medical School
Three Warwick Medical School academics have been named in Clarivate’s Highly Cited Researchers List 2025.
Highly Cited Researchers are those whose publications are most often cited in academic journals, ranking in the top 1% by citations for field and year. Of the world’s population of scientists and social scientists, Highly Cited Researchers are one in 1,000.
This year all of the University of Warwick academics featured in the list are from the Medical School.
Congratulations to:
- Professor Jerry Nolan
Professor Nolan is a consultant in anaesthesia and intensive care medicine. His research interests are in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, airway management and post-cardiac arrest treatment, and he has authored over 300 papers, reviews and editorials on these topics.
- Professor Gavin Perkins MBE
Professor Perkins, the Dean of Medicine at Warwick Medical School, is internationally recognised for his contributions to resuscitation research. He has led multi-centre trials evaluating mechanical chest compression devices, adrenaline and intraosseous vascular access. He has published more than 600 papers, including landmark contributions to NEJM, Lancet, JAMA, and BMJ.
- Professor Sophie Staniszewska
Professor Staniszewska leads the Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) and Experiences of Care Research Programme at Warwick Medical School. She focuses on developing the evidence base of PPIE for high-quality practice in areas such as mathematical and economic modelling, health data science, genomics and enabling data and gastrointestinal infections.
