Spring UK Clock Club in Coventry
On Friday 21 March, after a pause of nine years, organisers from WMS (Dallmann, Agrawal), SLS (Gifford, Walker and Martins) and Coventry University (Roden) hosted the UK Clock Club. From plants to people, molecules to mice, the programme of talks, posters showcased the breadth of the circadian field. Impact of the clock on human health was exemplified by Prof John Hogenesch's (Cincinnati Children's hospital) keynote lecture. This was further supplemented by workshops for ECRs on policy engagement and theory of change facilitated by SPRE as well as a highly interactive media training by Chris Smith (Naked Scientist). The meetings was organised in collaboration with BioClocks UK and funded by BBSRC FTMA, Genetics Society, BSN, RSE and SEB as well as contributions by commercial exhibitors Novogene, ActivInisghts, Stratech, NEB and Campden Instruments.
Last but not least, congratulations for her poster award (runner up) to MRC DTP PhD student Rachael Ralph, recognising her poster on the circadian intercellular control of blood brain barrier permeability.
Invited TimeTeller talk at Royal Society of Medicine meeting on "Sleep disorders in physical health – why they matter in the hospital"
