I joined the Unit of Academic Primary Care in August 2023, as an Academic Clinical Fellow (ACF) in General Practice. I spend part of my week on undertaking the Master’s by Research (MScR) in Health Sciences at Warwick Medical School, with the remaining days spent on clinical duties as a GP registrar in Stratford-upon-Avon.
I studied Biotechnology at University College London, and Medicine at Newcastle University. After graduation, I moved to Lincoln and Nottingham for my Foundation Programme. I then came to Coventry and Warwickshire for my specialty training in General Practice.
I have always been interested in research, but my interest in ‘clinical’ research started during my final year of BSc at UCL, whilst working on a research project involving bioartificial liver machine. I then developed my research interest in palliative care during my clinical placement at the Myton Hospices in Coventry and Warwickshire, and decided to delve into it further during my ACF post.
I am interested in exploring ways to improve the quality of palliative care provided by GPs in community. My MScR degree is supervised by Dr John MacArtney, and the research topic is on the concepts of normal, ordinary, and natural dying in clinical palliative care.
