Professor Dieter Wolke receives Honorary Doctorate from Ruhr University
Professor Dieter Wolke, from the Department of Psychology and Warwick Medical School was awarded a Doktor Rerum Naturalium Honoris Causa for exceptional scientific contributions to psychology.
Professor Wolke has focused his research on the cognitive and social-emotional development and life course consequences of children who are born prematurely. He has authored more than 200 scientific articles and in recent years has turned his attention also to researching issues of bullying and victimisation.
Professor Wolke said: “I am delighted to receive this award and I was especially honoured by the rector (VC) presenting it as this is only the second honorary doctorate handed out by the faculty in 50 years.
“I am very proud of the impact of the work I have done over the years and to get this kind of recognition is just fantastic.”
Like the University of Warwick, Ruhr University Bochum will also celebrate its 50th anniversary next summer
