Dr Vivek Furtado interviewed by ITV news following Yorkshire Ripper move to prison

Dr Vivek Furtado was asked for his comments on ITV News at 10 on Friday 12 August following the announcement that the Yorkshire Ripper was being moved from Broadmoor high security hospital to a prison.

The 70-year-old serial killer has spent 32 years inside the high-security institution in Berkshire after murdering 13 women and attempting to murder seven more between 1976 and 1981.

Dr Furtado who is a forensic psychiatrist working in the Mental Health and Wellbeing unit explained briefly about the Mental Health Tribunal Panel, how they makes decisions and how the outcomes are implemented. He also spoke briefly about relapse in schizophrenia and management of schizophrenia in prison estates.
