Addressing the Impact of COVID-19 Pandemic on the Access to and Experience of Mental Health Care of People from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Groups (ARIADNE)

OPAL

OPAL aimed to develop and trial a one-to-one peer support programme for relatives/ friends of people treated under the Mental Health Act (MHA) in England. This programme was adapted from a programme in Germany (the EX-IN programme) which reduced caregiving stress and improved carers’ quality of life.

Peer promoted ConnectEat app at university: connecting students at mealtimes to prevent/reduce loneliness

Our aim is to further the co-design and development process of an intervention to prevent/reduce loneliness among a wide range of students, especially among those at higher risk of loneliness who might struggle to connect with others via existing societies/clubs.

Social Cohort Study

The Social Health cohort study will explore how the quality and diversity of people’s social networks and social interactions influences their quality of life, symptom severity and capacity to go about their day to day lives. The study aims to recruit 600 people with major depressive disorder, bipolar or schizophrenia/ schizoaffective disorder from diverse regions across the UK.

AdSOLVE

Addressing Socio-technical Limitations ov LLMs for Medical and Social Computing.

AdSoLve aims to explore the feasibility and usability of an AI-assisted self-monitoring and self-management tool for people with severe mental illness receiving care within the NHS. The project seeks to co-produce and test this tool in collaboration with patients and health and social care professionals. The goal is to assess how AI can support mental health monitoring and self-management while addressing challenges such as potential inaccuracies (hallucinations), ethical concerns, and integration within existing NHS practices and NICE guidelines.

Improving quality of life and health outcomes of patients with psychosis through a new structured intervention for expanding social networks.

 Pause Parenting App

Pause is a parent support app which can be integrated into parenting programs or used as as a standalone tool. Over several weeks, parents using Pause build a toolkit of evidence-based skills tailored to the needs of their family. Through partnerships with Local Authorities and NHS Trusts, this engaging multi-lingual, AI-powered app has already helped over 1000 families.

EveryStep

Every year 1.7 million people are referred to NHS Talking Therapies but fewer than 700,000 complete therapy. EveryStep is an app to help this 'missing million' benefit from therapy. Building on the consensus on preparation for cognitive behavioural therapy, EveryStep's daily videos, podcasts, and quizzes provide a Digital Patient Inspiration Leafletto equip the missing million to get the most out of talking therapy.
