Research Interests

I am primarily a trial statistician. I specialise in the design and analysis of RCTs of surgical interventions in orthopaedics. I am particularly interested in the design and analysis of trials of complex interventions where there may be treatment switching or delays in treatment initiation. My other research interests include the design and use of Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs), especially in clinical trials; and the use of complex or routine data as trial outcomes.

Biography

Helen graduated from the University of Birmingham with a MSci in Mathematical Sciences. She then remained at Birmingham to complete her PhD at the Centre for Systems Biology developing tools for analysing J-resolved NMR spectroscopy of metabolomic data. Helen joined WMS in January 2011 as a Research Fellow in Medical Statistics and joined Warwick CTU in October 2016. She now works with the Surgery, Pain and Rehabilitation group to design and run clinical trials.
