Research Interests

Professor Kate Seers BSc (Hons) RN PhD DSc SFHEA is Professor of Health Research and Director of Warwick Research in Nursing, Warwick Medical School. My research interests include pain and its management, evidence based health care, knowledge translation, complex interventions and research relevant to nursing. My research in these areas has used quantitative and qualitative systematic reviews, randomised controlled trials, qualitative methodologies and I often use mixed methods. Applications from potential PhD students wishing to work in these areas are welcome. I have had the pleasure of supervising 23 PhD students to completion. Current research studies include: 1) NIHR HS&DR. Mapping and Evaluating Services for Children with Learning Disabilities and Behaviours that Challenge (MELD). PI: Hastings. Work Package (WP) lead. £1,245,271. 1/2/2021 for 39 months to 30/4/24 2) NIHR NIHR COVID-19 Recover and Learning Funding Committee. Rehabilitation Exercise and psychological support after covid-19 Infection (REGAIN). PI: McGregor. £650,626. 1st September 2020 for 2 years. WP lead. 3) NIHR Health Technology Assessment. Opioid reduction in chronic pain. I-WOTCH. Started September 2016. £1,578,213 39 months. WP lead. 4) NIHR HTA Supervised Pulmonary Hypertension Exercise Rehabilitation. (SPHERe). £1,328,000. 39 months from 1st June 2019. Work package lead and Co-I.

Biography

Professor Seers BSc (Hons) RN PhD DSc SFHEA is Professor of Health Research and Director of Warwick Research in Nursing. Prior to this she was Head of Research at the Royal College of Nursing Institute from 1996-2007. In 2014 Professor Seers was listed as a "highly cited" researcher on Thomson Reuter's list (writing the greatest numbers of reports officially designated by Essential Science Indicators as Highly Cited Papers - top 1% most cited for their subject field and year of publication). She Chaired the Scientific Programme Committee of the British Pain Society 2015-2017, and was a Member of the National Institute of Health Research Health Services and Delivery Research Board 2010-2018. At the University of Warwick she is Head of Academic Career Development in the Medical School and Academic Lead for the University's shadowing programme, which she initiated. She also co-leads research in the Division of Health Sciences
