Applied ethics, in particular ethics involving acute medical care and the medical care of children.
Biography
Paul Baines qualified in medicine in 1984 and then trained in paediatrics before completing training in anaesthesia. For many years, he worked in Paediatric Intensive Care in Alder Hey Hospital, continuing a research interest in Infectious Diseases (in particular Meningococcal Disease in Children). In 2010, whilst continuing clinical work in Liverpool, he took up a Wellcome Trust award working towards a PhD in medical ethics. He joined Warwick University in 2020.
